The objective of the new Rogers-Black Screen Office Development Fund is to provide Black and People of Colour storytellers with the opportunity to develop scripted or unscripted (documentary) content in English or French for the international market. The fund will support creators through the writing process, from outline to script, to create pitch-ready projects for networks, studios, cable, and streaming platforms.

Bring your best short film ideas to this year’s So You Think You Can Pitch Competition at the 26th edition of the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival in November. Reel Asian is looking for submissions of short film proposals by emerging filmmakers from any genre. The winning applicant or team will walk away with a prize package to kick-start and/or finish their short film, including an $8,000 cash award, in-kind support, and the opportunity to premiere their work at the following year’s festival!

The 6th Durham Region International Film Festival (DRIFF) will run from September 29 to October 1. The early deadline to submit is July 15. The late deadline is August 12.

The Toronto International Film Festival returns in September 2022 for its 47th edition — 11 days of international and Canadian cinema, special events featuring some of the biggest names in film, and TIFF’s Industry Conference, offering diverse and innovative perspectives on the art and business of film.

FIN Atlantic International Film Festival is an eight-day celebration of film and media from around the world. It’s a festival that turns Halifax—a charming and historic coastal city—into an international mecca for the arts, abuzz with film lovers and filmmakers alike. 

The 2022 Calgary International Film Festival will take place in Calgary, Alberta from September 22 - October 2.

The 2022 Vancouver International Film Festival will take place from September 29 - October 9 in Vancouver, BC.

The 2022 Festival du Nouveau Cinéma will take place in Montreal from October 6 - 17. 

Reelworld Film Festival in its 22nd year exclusively accepts Canadian films by Black, Indigenous, Asian, South Asian, Middle Eastern, North African, and Latin American Canadian artists. Screening will take place in person in Toronto and online. 

The imagineNATIVE Film and Media Arts Festival will take place October 18-29, 2022, in-person in Toronto from October 18-23, 2022, and streaming online from October 23-29, 2022.

The 21st DGC Awards will take place in Vancouver on November 5th, 2022.
